About Driftwell

The Wild Is Worth Knowing

Driftwell started with a simple question from one of our sons: "Can I get a muskie hat?"

We looked everywhere. Adult fishing gear? Plenty. Cartoon characters and superheroes for kids? Endless. But a hat featuring a real fish a child might actually catch someday? Nothing.

Around the same time, we were reading Last Child in the Woods and came across a striking insight: most children today can name more fictional characters than animals in their own backyards. That hit home. Our boys were drawn to creatures—fascinated by the fish they'd seen on the dock, the birds at the feeder, the deer crossing the trail. But their closets didn't reflect that.

So we created Driftwell.

Real Creatures. Real Connection.

We believe kids tend to care about what they see, wear, and talk about most. And right now, most of that attention goes to characters that don't exist anywhere but on screens.

Driftwell is one small way to help real fish, birds, and backyard critters catch up.

Our clothing features North American wildlife. The animals children can actually encounter just outside their door. Each design is a conversation starter, a curiosity spark, an invitation to look up from the screen and notice the living world around us.

How We Do It

We start with high-quality, durable clothing made to last. Then we apply embroidered wildlife patches featuring real North American animals, primarily fish to start, with birds and other creatures coming soon.

Each piece is made to order, stitched with intention, and designed for kids and adults of all ages.

We're small. We're purposeful. And we're committed to keeping it that way—growing thoughtfully, sourcing responsibly, and partnering with conservation organizations to protect the wild places and creatures that inspire everything we make.

Who We Are

We're a small family in Minnesota raising three boys who'd rather be outside. We started Driftwell because we believe childhood belongs outdoors, and the clothing kids wear should reflect the world worth knowing—not just the one invented to sell toys.

We're not perfect. But we're intentional. And we're building this brand one patch, one conversation, one muddy boot at a time.
